EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- The Board of Directors of the Naco Sports Club and the Judo Parents Association of the organization, paid a just tribute to the immortal of Judo, Juan Chalas, on the 50th anniversary of starting his career in that sport, as well as his 45 years as head coach of Club Naco.
Similarly, the Dominican Judo Federation, chaired by Gilberto García, awarded Juan Chalas the certification of “8th dan belt”, the highest distinction awarded in that sport.
The president of the Naco Club, doctor Luis Miguel Pou, praised the moral and sports qualities of the immortal of the sport, Juan Chalas, who is a beacon of light in the sports entity, with an impeccable career for more than four decades giving practices.
“Thousands of young people who today are professionals in various branches of national life have passed through the hands of Professor Juan Chalas, that is, they not only train high-performance athletes, but also young people who are integral to society,” said Pou.
Indhira Sánchez, president of the Club Naco Judo Parents Association, also valued in its proper dimension the role that coach Juan Chalas has been playing and highlighted that he is seen as a father by all the students, in the different stages.
Antonio Acosta, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee and Gilberto García, president of the Dominican Judo Federation and current Secretary General of the COD, also spoke, who pointed out that Chalas has had a brilliant career in national sport and within the ranks of the Naco Club as coach.
“Sensei Chalas is judo and judo is Chalas”, commented Acosta and García in an emotional tone.
A video was shown with testimonies of great sports personalities highlighting the trajectory of Juan Chalas.
Socrates Puello said thanks and recalled with anecdotes the trajectory of the immortal of the sport, Juan Chalas, in judo.
