Brazilian D’Almeida eliminated from archery at Tokyo 2020 – Prensa Latina

Silver medalist at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games and the Lima 2019 Pan-American Games, the South American fell to Italian Mauro Nespoli in three sets, with partial 2-0, 2-0 and 2-0, for which he concluded in the ninth place.

Known in his country as the Neymar of archery, D’Almeida at the end of the confrontation in the Yumenoshima field expressed to the press his frustration at the defeat, but – he assured – he will fight for a medal in Paris 2024.

At just 23 years old, the athlete competed for the first time at the international level in 2013 and in 2014 he won three titles at the South American Games, where he broke all records in the region in 1,440 rounds.

Then he qualified for the final of the World Cup of the specialty in Lausanne 2014 and obtained a creditable second place, from which he experienced a marked rise.

His victimizer Nespoli will collide in the quarterfinals against the German Florian Unruh and will try to continue advancing in search of the discussion of the first place under the five rings, scheduled for this Saturday.
