Accused of attempted murder, aggravated personal injury in competition and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, a 56-year-old Borgomanero, currently residing in Melissano in the province of Lecce, was definitively sentenced to 8 years in prison. The man therefore obtained a penalty discount from the Appeal, assessed that in the first instance he had taken 14 years and 8 months.
A particularly violent episode
The facts at the center of the trial, which took place in Urgento in the Lecce area, date back to 22 April 2019. That night, according to the reconstruction of the accusation, the man had beaten a Bulgarian acquaintance, using a baseball bat and threatened his wife with a gun. All with an accomplice also Bulgarian (sentenced to 7 years and 4 months).
The reasons behind the gesture
At the origin of the attempted murder, according to the investigators, there was the refusal by the victim to work for the two men in the transport of weapons and drugs abroad. After the episode, in which the Borgomanerese had injured himself by accidentally shooting himself with a pistol shot in the leg, the carabinieri had first tightened the handcuffs around the wrists of the Bulgarian accomplice and only later they had captured the 56-year-old craving who had succeeded for about a month to go into hiding.
