BG Göttingen: Home games only for vaccinated and convalescent people

Basketball Bundesliga team BG Göttingen is entering the coming season with a comprehensive safety and hygiene concept. As the Veilchen announced on Monday, the so-called 2G rule will apply to home games in the Sparkasse Arena in the coming season, according to which only those who have been completely vaccinated or who have recovered are allowed access – exceptions concern children and spectators who cannot be vaccinated. On Tuesday the pre-sale of season tickets started, for which the BG came up with a sophisticated system.

The BG’s hygiene and safety concept was worked out together with the Göttingen health department. Access to the arena is only granted to people who can demonstrate either a full vaccination or a recovery from the SarsCov2 virus. This rule does not apply to children between the ages of six and eleven as well as people who cannot be vaccinated with medical evidence.

According to the current status, students do not need a separate test outside the school holidays, as they are tested regularly in school, according to the BG’s statement. Spectators who cannot be vaccinated will need medical evidence and a 48-hour-old PCR or 24-hour-old antigen test. Self-tests are not enough.

The obligation to test, the violets point out, also applies to children from six to eleven years of age during the school holidays. Children under six years of age are admitted without any proof, but they also need a ticket. In addition: There is an FFP2 or medical mask requirement in the entire arena – now also on the seat. Children under the age of six are exempt from the requirement to wear a mask; an everyday mask is sufficient for children up to the age of 14.

Season ticket holders for the 2019/20 season can make reservations immediately

Season ticket holders from the 2019/20 season have the opportunity to reserve their regular seats from now until Sunday, September 12th. After that, the right of first refusal expires. New season tickets can also be reserved from now on – however, only a limited contingent is available during the pre-purchase period, according to Veilchen. Standing season tickets can be booked as normal.

The advance booking of season tickets is initially just a reservation, and no amount of money has yet been collected from the owner. This only happens when all season ticket holders have a seat in the S-Arena.

But even then, according to the Veilchen, not the full amount will be withdrawn, but three times per season – on November 1st, February 1st and May 1st – only one seventeenth of the total amount per game, for which all season tickets during this period -Owners were admitted.

How fans can extend their season ticket: The season ticket can be extended in the online ticket shop (link to www.bggoettingen.de). Supporters first choose between the premium season ticket and the easyCredit BBL season ticket and then click on “Extend season ticket”. In the next window, select your seat and enter the four-digit ticket code (can be found on the back of the season ticket and will be sent to all season ticket holders again separately by email). When the booking has been completed, an email will be sent stating that the season ticket has been successfully extended. The booking of season tickets is only possible by direct debit. Fans can also extend their season tickets via the ticket hotline on 0180/6050400 or appear in person at the BG office (Schützenplatz 2, Göttingen).

The BG office opens for advance ticket sales on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The fan shop is also open at these times. The season tickets will be sent to the fans in good time before the first home game against Brose Bamberg (September 26th).

Important: The season ticket extension is only valid for the exact seats from the 2019/20 season. A change of place after an extension is no longer possible. Season ticket holders who want to change their seats for the 2021/22 season can only do so in writing via the BG office.

“We still cannot say exactly how the pandemic situation will develop and how many spectators we will be allowed to let into the arena,” says BG managing director Frank Meinertshagen. “In order to avoid refunds, we have chosen this approach.”

If the S-Arena is only partially used, season ticket holders can secure a place with their four-digit ticket code. However, this only applies to season ticket holders who have reserved a place for the 2021/22 season.

Even then, on November 1st, February 1st and May 1st, only one seventeenth of the season ticket price will be debited per game. If the permitted capacity allows all season ticket holders to book a seat, the amount for these games will be deducted in any case – even if the season ticket holder has not booked a seat.

The premium season ticket includes all games – including any BBL Pokal home games and BBL playoff home games. An additional extension of the season ticket is then no longer necessary for these games, the additional costs are automatically debited from the account. The normal BBL season ticket, on the other hand, only contains the (usually) 17 home games. According to the BG, information on single ticket sales will be available at a later date.
