For four days, young talents from the continent competed hard for the top spots. For the four of aces in the boys singles, we find Seif Omar and Zied Hesham from Egypt, Cullen Kakora from South Africa and Shang Noir Francis from Ghana. Among the girls, three Egyptians validate their tickets for the semi-finals namely, Réel Hussein, Hadia Ahmed Hussein and Alya Mohamed. Mauritian Tiya Bhurtun completes the square. In women’s doubles, two Egyptian pairs and two South African pairs are in the semi-finals. In men’s doubles, we find a Ghanaian pair, a Mauritian pair, an Egyptian pair and a pair from Burkina Faso. In mixed, we find South Africa, Mauritius and Egypt which places two teams. The semi-finals therefore promise to be explosive. These young talents will spare no effort to engrave their name in golden letters on the continent. It will be remembered that Benin shines by its absence at the level of the various tables of the semi-finals. The Beninese badminton federation therefore has work to do at the grassroots so that young Beninese badminton players truly respond to these continental meetings.
