Benfica wins on character, but PSV is far from exhausted and saves return | UEFA Champions League 2021/2022

PSV had so far won its 6 official matches in this football season, 4 of which in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League.

Still, the visitors showed little swagger and Benfica struck in the anxious initial phase.

With a cross ball, Silva showed the finesse and technique of Benfica after 11 minutes, but PSV – which faced a deficit for the first time this season – then threw the hesitation away.

That provided opportunities, but shortly before the break the lid on the nose followed.

Benfica used his length and strength on a corner: Weigl was outlawed to pass the hard verdict halfway through.

Who thought that PSV would completely lose their head after that sacrifice let it hang, turned out to be cheated.

Gakpo seemed to wait too long after 53 minutes, but still found a hole in the Portuguese defence.

After the 2-1 the level dropped, but PSV occasionally flirted with the equalizer in the foul and card festival.

It didn’t fall out of the sky in the Estadio da Luz, but PSV can certainly hope that the sky will be clear next week completely cleared up in the Philips Stadium.
