Cologne (SID) – Telekom Baskets Bonn from the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) have signed Tuomas Iisalo as head coach for the coming season. The 38-year-old Finn, who had been on the sidelines at Hakro Merlins Crailsheim for the past five seasons and who most recently led the club into the play-off quarter-finals, signed a two-year contract. His brother Joonas will take over the position of co-trainer and athletic trainer. Iisalo succeeds Will Voigt.
Bonn is a “respected and well-organized club with great fans that has both a successful tradition and potential for the future,” said Iisalo. He and his brother would try “to set up a program in Bonn that will generate a lot of enthusiasm through hard work and collective team basketball,” he promised.
The Baskets, five-time runners-up, had missed the play-offs this season.
