Badminton, one of the disciplines in which Mexico failed to transcend in the Olympic Games

Both Lino Muñoz and Haramara Gaitán fell far short of meeting the expectations of fighting for a place on the podium

The Mexican representative took only two badminton members in search of being placed on the podium of the Olympic Games, but both Lino Muñoz and Haramara Gaitán stayed in the attempt.

To Lino Muñoz, Tokyo 2020 were his second games after he was in Rio 2016, but could not transcend in the Asian tournament since he was eliminated in the first round.

In his first match he fell to Angus Ng Ka Long, from Hong Kong, with partials of 21-9 and 21-1, so he had to look for a better result in his second commitment to stay alive.

The Mexican faced the Guatemalan Kevin Cordon, but he could not do much either, as he fell in two sets of 21-14 and 21-12, which was out of all possibility of reaching the next round.

Haramara Gaitán She attended for the women’s branch, but had the same luck, since her first commitment was lost to the Korean Kim Ga-eun Kim in a match in which she put up resistance, but fell 21-14 and 21-9.

For her second commitment, the Mexican played Jia Min Yeo, from Singapore, and also suffered a setback by 21-7 and 21-10, which meant she was out of Tokyo 2020.

Thus, the two Mexican representatives could not transcend that discipline at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and both said goodbye to the event early.
