ATP Toronto: Lorenzo Musetti violates corona rules for ordering food and is excluded from the tournament

As the tournament officials announced, the current number 62 in the world had left the “COVID-19 regulated environment” and was therefore disqualified.

According to the Italian news agency “ANSA”, the tennis player and his coach had previously ordered food from a restaurant in Toronto. That is supposed to have started the problems.

As the “Gazetta dello Sport” writes, the Italian’s credit card should not have worked, which is why Musetti apparently decided to simply pick up his meal himself in the restaurant 70 meters from the hotel.

The security guards, who noticed that he had left the hotel and then contacted the organizers of the tournament, were his undoing.

Musetti: The player shouldn’t have left “bubble”

A little excursion that finally cost the tennis star participation in the tournament because the Corona rules stipulate, among other things, that the players are not allowed to leave the controlled “bubble” on their own.

Musetti would actually have played against Emilio Gomez in round one of qualifying in Toronto, who then had to make do with substitute Max Purcell.

The Italians will probably remember the “bittersweet” food for a long time. One can only hope that the coach and player at least enjoyed it.
