“After the latest events related to Atlético Nacional’s dispute with Cortuluá for the so-called Fernando Uribe case, Atlético Nacional informs that:

-With the best will to seek a negotiated solution to the dispute that exists with Cortuluá, Atlético Nacional listened and made several settlement proposals, without reaching a reasonable agreement with Cortuluá, who always showed an erratic and closed position in the negotiations, with economic pretensions VERY above those suggested by some media.

-In exercise of its fundamental rights, Atlético Nacional will continue to defend before the constitutional judges the fact that it is recognized that this case can only be resolved on the merits and, ultimately, by a judge, as did the CAS, and not by the commissions of the Player Statute of the Dimayor and the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), which lack judicial functions.

-With total respect for the institutional framework of Colombian football, Atlético Nacional will continue to defend before FIFA that the statutes and regulations of the FCF and Dimayor cannot take away access to the TAS from clubs and players in the resolution processes of disputes, because the CAS is the natural judge of sport, it is the independent arbitration court with judicial functions and specialized in sports, which has been appointed by FIFA to ultimately resolve disputes between clubs and players.

-Atlético Nacional deeply regret that the FCF and Dimayor have prevented the players from registering for the league and the Betplay II Cup, which culminated today, applying a sanction that they do not share and consider disproportionate. Nacional trusts that the Colombian constitutional justice will soon correct this situation for the benefit of the players and the institution.

-Taking into account that a lot of false information has circulated and many speculations have been woven about this case, Atlético Nacional offers public opinion a document with objective facts and reliable information that can be consulted at the following link: www.atlnacional.com.co/abc-caso-cortulua/“.
