Alexandra Bøje and Mette Poulsen apologize and apologize for their behavior in yesterday’s women’s doubles final at RSL DM 2021.

The focus in the women’s doubles final between Alexandra Bøje / Mette Poulsen and Sara Thygesen / Maiken Fruergaard was quickly directed at the serve errors for which Bøje / Poulsen was convicted. It made the ladies double react frustrated and loud to both the referee and the serving referee. It eventually made the serving referee want to be replaced, which happened. After this, the new serving referee also ruled a foul server against Bøje / Poulsen, and that made them indicate that they would withdraw, but that prevented their coach Jakob Poulsen.

At the back of the final, Bøje / Poulsen wants to apologize for their behavior, which they have done on their Instagram story with the following message:

Dear All.

We would like to apologize and apologize for our behavior in the DM final yesterday. Our reaction on the pitch took over and we let our frustrations run off with us. We’re really sorry about that, and we’ve reached out to the serving judge with an apology. At the same time, we lie down and apologize to everyone who feels offended by our behavior in the fight. This is not how we want to represent either the sport or our own values.

Sincerely, Mette and Alexandra

Badminton Denmark would like to encourage a good tone on social media towards Alexandra Bøje and Mette Poulsen.
