It occurs tomorrow the second anniversary of the death of Vittoria’s two 11-year-old cousins, Alessio and Simone D’Antonio, mowed down by an SUV driven by Rosario Greco while they were playing at the door of the house in Vittoria, in the Ragusa area. The driver of the car was sentenced to 9 years in prison, a penalty also confirmed on appeal, for double road homicide aggravated by the psychophysical alteration due to the use of alcohol and drugs.

The three who were in the car with him, on the other hand, will be tried on September 14 at the Court of Ragusa: Alfredo Sortino, Rosario Fiore and Angelo Ventura (the latter was recently sentenced in the first instance to 13 years and 7 months for mafia association as part of the ‘Survivors’ operation of the Catania anti-mafia district directorate) respond to failure to rescue because following the accident they opened the doors of the SUV and fled.

Rosario Greco in the latter proceeding instead will answer for unjustified carrying of objects capable of offending because a baseball bat was found in the car.

The parents of the children – Toni and Valentina, Simone’s parents, and Alessandro and Lucia, Alessio’s parents -, have long been waiting for answers on the increased penalties for road murder, a reform for which the then Minister of Justice was committed Alfonso Bonafede promising the commitment to draft a bill on behalf of the children. Tomorrow in Vittoria in the church of San Giovanni Battista at 7 pm a Holy Mass will be celebrated in suffrage of the two cousins.

“To Alessio and Simone we wanted to dedicate and title, in these two years, educational and training projects for the pupils of the comprehensive schools of Vittoria, thanks also to special funding we obtained from Miur – commented the extraordinary commission that governs the city of Vittoria – Keeping the memory of Alessio and Simone alive must help us grow and create a society that is founded on respect for others and that rebels against arrogance and mafia arrogance. We would also like to address a thought to the D’Antonio family, who today as yesterday, carry a wound in their heart that will never be healed “, affirm Filippo Dispenza, Giovanna Termini and Gaetano D’Erba.
