Tuscany: 2021-2022 hunting calendar approved

The Tuscan regional council has approved the new hunting calendar for the 2021-2022 season, as reported by the Confederation of Tuscan hunters.

In the resolution, which will be published in the next few days in the Official Bulletin, the contents of the previous hunting calendars are substantially reported as regards the opening and closing dates of the hunting season (19 September 2021 – 31 January 2022); the only exception is the pochard and lapwing species, whose management and sampling plan will be presented in the coming weeks by the councilor Stefania Saccardi with a separate document, which will become an integral part of the 2021/2022 hunting calendar.

The limit of annual heads for the collection of the lark species has been reconfirmed. The game bag allowed to “specialist hunters” is kept in 100 head per season, with a maximum of 20 head per day; The differentiation of the opening and closing dates for hunting wild boar in pursuit is also maintained in the various ATCs in compliance with the time span 2 October 2021 – 31 January 2022.

Reconfirmed the faculty of the Atc to establish the methods of organizing and carrying out the selection hunt for wild boar in unsuitable areas. Furthermore, the closing date of 31 January was maintained for species belonging to the turdidae and anatidae family and for the woodcock species.

For the first time it was clearly specified that from 9 to 30 December 2021 the use of the follow-up dog will be allowed for hunting wild boar in single form in non-suitable areas and the use of the “limiere dog”, enabled by Enci, for wild boar hunting in turn in unsuitable areas; the use of the following dog for hunting cottontail (minilepre) and from 9 December 2021 to 31 January 2022 it will be allowed to use the den dog for fox hunting.

With the approval of the new regional hunting calendar, the resolution on the pre-opening will follow, which will also allow for the collection of turtledoves, corvids and the transfer in derogation for this hunting season. Furthermore, thanks to the technical-scientific contribution provided by the Fidc Studies and Research office, the regional council has undertaken to approve the management and sampling plans for the pochard and lapwing species, as an integral act of the text of the hunting calendar.
