Round of 16 Euro 2020 (Euro 2021) has passed with 29 goals and eight winners going into the quarter-finals. Here are the five selected goals in the round of 16 of Euro 2020.

Eight knockout matches of the round of 16 took place with lots of goals. On average, each game resulted in 3,625 goals.

The Croatia vs Spain match was the top scorer. A total of eight goals were created over 120 minutes. Meanwhile, the Belgium vs Portugal match was the least scored, with Thorgan Hazard’s kick being the difference.


No game ends without a goal. The Italian vs Austria duel, which in normal times did not produce goals, resulted in three goals in extra time.

Several players such as Patrik Schick, Karim Benzema, and Emil Forsberg added goals in the round of 16, adding to the excitement of the competition on the top scorer list.

However, not all of the players who scored that slick goal helped his team qualify for the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.

1. Paul Pogba (France vs Switzerland)

Playing as a midfielder who often fired long distances, Pogba showed reliability in the match against Switzerland. An accurate kick from outside the penalty box could not be reached by the Swiss goalkeeper, Yann Sommer.

The curved trajectory of the ball added to the beauty of Pogba’s goal which had brought France 3-1 up. But Pogba failed to bring France through because Switzerland could rise and win in the penalty shootout.
