Tokyo 2020 will have special beds to avoid sex

The director of the Olympic Village pointed out that the beds are made to break in case the athletes make a movement other than sleeping

The Olympic Games gather in one place thousands of athletes from all over the world, so it is common for athletes to athletes have sexual intercourse among them. However, for the most recent edition in Tokyo 2020, the organizers requested that on this occasion they refrain from privacy to avoid Covid-19 contagions.

Just a few weeks ago the official announcement was made that condoms would be distributed to athletes who come to Tokyo – an old tradition since Seoul 1988 – although they will be asked not to use them to maintain anticovid measures in the Olympic village.

“The goal is not for them to be worn in the Olympic Village, but rather that we will ask the athletes to take them back to their countries of origin to cooperate in raising awareness of the sexually transmitted diseases (ETS) and its eradication ”, commented the general director of the village, Takashi Kitajima.

Special beds to avoid privacy

In the Olympic Village there are a total of 18 thousand beds, which are made of cardboard and will be recycled at the end of the summer fair. The company in charge of creating the beds pointed out that they are capable of supporting up to 200 kilos.

“We have done tests, like throwing weight on the beds. As long as there is a person lying down, they should be strong enough to support the load, “said a spokesman.

While Kitajima pointed out that these beds are sturdy, he also warned that they will break if there is any activity other than sleeping on them. “Of course, the wood and cardboard would break if you jumped on them.”

The organizers did not specify what will happen if some athletes break their beds in case there is an action outside of sleeping, although they did point out that they will let them consume alcohol in their rooms (as long as it is not in a group).

Regarding the weight of the athletes, this will not pose any problem since boxers or weightlifters, for example, do not exceed the weight limit. The largest categories of these athletes are 91 to 109 kilograms, respectively. In judo the heaviest are 100 kilos and in wrestling they are 130 kilos.
