Tokyo 2020, the TV program of the Olympics races: when it’s up to the Italians (384 athletes). And the fans …

In total 23,040 minutes. Or 384 hours. Or if you prefer 16 days. Very close to the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 which, never like this year, will be a flash edition. From 23 July to 8 August. All in just over two weeks, in fact (something more if we consider that some disciplines will start before the inauguration on Thursday 22 July). A mix of emotions shaken in an unimaginable time, in the light of the amount of disciplines and athletes present at the start of the five-circle competition. Everything had been ready for a while – in Japan – but the pandemic has overturned expectations and priorities: just as happened at the European football championships, Tokyo 2020 – in reality – has turned into Tokyo 2021. With an abysmal difference to mark a border between the two events: the presence (or not) of fans in the stands. From this point of view, Euro 2020 was much more “generous”. In Japan, however, no supporters, no choirs, no waving of flags. Of an infinite sadness, but so be it. At the time of the pandemic, being able to speak in the present and not in the future about such events is already a great achievement. Starting with the opening ceremony, everything will take place in a minor tone.

Where to see the Olympics on TV

Rai will broadcast the live broadcast of 200 hours of competitions (also on RaiPlay). Discovery+, on the other hand, it will deal with a much more consistent amount of competitions: 3000 hours of live coverage and 30 channels. Also Sky ed Eurosport (together with Dazn holds all the rights to the Olympics and can broadcast them H24).

The numbers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics

From basketball to volleyball, from karate to athletics, from judo to softball: in all there will be 50 disciplines, almost 1100 medals up for grabs, over 10 thousand athletes competing. The Italians in the race will be 384 (the national record in such a competition).
