The UTN donated six special chairs to DUBA for the practice of adapted tennis

In the last hours, the NGO Discapacitales Unidos Bahienses (DUBA) received six wheelchairs for the adapted tennis team called “Los Pulpos”.

It is a joint initiative between the National Technological University (UTN) and the Industrial Park.

Federico Maradisga, adapted tennis teacher at DUBA, exhibited his satisfaction with the initiative that will allow the activity to grow.

“Ten days ago the UTN called us and told us that the chairs were ready, on which they had been working for two years. So the delivery they made to us in the Industrial Park on Friday was an immense joy, “he said.

Maradisga mentioned that the idea started from “a concern that one of the athletes had,” who got in touch with Danna Gallego, who is an industrial designer at the Bahía Blanca Regional School (UTN-FRBB) and coordinator of this project.

“They made a prototype, we tested it. They then traveled to CENARD, saw the high-performance athletes and inquired about the specification of the chairs. Then we tried them here and it was all finished ”, he said.

The professor described as “immense” the gesture of the house of higher studies, given that these chairs cost over 500 thousand pesos.

Regarding the continuity of the project, Maradisga remarked that “that is the idea” of the UTN and that there is talk of generating a “sustainable project” with a “mass production” of these prototypes.

According to the professor from “Los Pulpos”, this will facilitate the practice of sport since the athletes “were using the basketball chairs and they had to move them many times from one side to the other and many times they could not be reached”.

“With this they are going to practice sport more continuously and we can invite more people to join,” he concluded.
