A nice tribute decided to carry out the delegates of the clubs in the Marplatense Basketball Association. In the hours before the start of the Official First Division Tournament they proposed and accepted to baptize the contest “Juan Pablo Sánchez Cup” in honor of the former basketball player of Union, Peñarol and Quilmes passed away a few months ago.
The Official, in principle, was to be called the “80th Anniversary” Tournament of the Marplatense Association. Despite the significance of that date, the decision was unanimous. The personality of Juan Pablo Sánchez, one of the best human beings who passed through these courts -as well as a great player-, had no cons.
The man from Mendoza not only played training sessions in the Mar del Plata Association field from the moment he arrived in the Union as a recruiter from his native province. For the “celestial” club he came to play in first class and, after retiring from professionalism, he returned to play the local tournaments to Sporting, again in Union and finally in the IAE club under the command of his friend Alejandro Magnone. And he also played in different selections from this city.
Few times before has a WBA decision generated so many favorable comments.
