The KiteFest Cesantes Xacobeo Trophy, organized by the TMKiteClub and the City Council of Redondela, has today the finishing touch to its fourth edition, held throughout the weekend on the beach of Cesantes with a large influx of public and many activities on land .

The morning began with the wind blowing without enough force to carry the fleet into the water. The Committee tried that the Foil fleet, which needs less wind intensity to sail, could go out to the race course, however Eolo was losing strength again. With the start time very close, it was decided to cancel Sunday’s races in regatta format, so yesterday’s results would be the final ones for this fourth edition. Thus, in the largest class, Twintip, the French Helene Lambrey was the first female. In men’s, local rider Antonio “Patxi” Fernández took the lead with two wins in the two rounds played on Saturday. The podium was completed by Iván Carballo and Pedro de Castro from Baiona. For his part, in the amateur version of the category, David Tojeiro, also with two firsts, has won.

In the Surf class, in women, Aurea Carballo has won while the men’s category has crowned the Catalan rider David Marín for the second consecutive year, who has been proclaimed the winner with a point of advantage over Santiago Gómez. The Portuguese rider Nuno “Stru” Figueiredo was the winner in the amateur category.

The Foil category has been the one that has done the greatest number of rounds, four, with Mario Martínez at the top of the podium, followed four points away by Marco Moreira. Jorge González did not give his rivals a choice and with the first two he secured victory in the Windsurf class, ahead of Eduardo Reguera and Mauricio Villadoniga. For his part, Juan Pedrosa was the first classified in Wingfoil.

Show of jumps and tricks

Fortunately, late in the afternoon, there was wind to see the Freestyle, Big Jump and Strapless exhibition show, or in other words, the always surprising jumps and tricks that started the applause of the public concentrated on the beach of Cesantes.

Justo Fernández was the rider who jumped higher, proclaiming himself the winner in Big Jump. David Marín, a Catalan who started kitesurfing precisely in Cesantes, once again savored victory, winning, in addition to the surf category regatta format, in Strapless. Finally, Felipe Moure did not disappoint with his tricks and bar passes, winning in Freestyle.
