This Friday the BetPlay II-2021 League begins to be played in Colombia and the 20 teams are excited to be champion at the end of the year. Others will fight to save the category; while several teams will meet the goal if they qualify for international tournaments next year.
And to qualify for the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana in 2022, there are two paths in this League (the third is to win the Copa Colombia): to be champion in December or to stay with a quota through the reclassification table.
Tolima, league champion, no longer counts in the fight. Thus, Millonarios is the first beneficiary, although everything is very tight and there is a lot of fabric to cut.
First you have to remember how the quotas are distributed to Libertadores and Sudamericana:
Tolima has already won the place of Colombia 1 to Libertadores, for being champion of League I. The one of Colombia 2 will be won by the one who obtains the star in League II. Both teams they will qualify directly to the group stage.
The reclassification table will distribute two more places to Copa Libertadores, but to previous qualifying phases. They will get them to the two best in the table, who have not been champions in Liga II and Copa Colombia.
For the South American Cup next year there are also four reclassification quotas. They will be for the following teams that do not have a place in the Copa Libertadores and continue in the positions.
