Sebastian Mai has been playing for Dynamo Dresden since his youth and was even a ball boy at the professional games as a teenager. Mai’s father worked for Dynamo almost his entire life. More identification with one’s own club is hardly possible. May leads Dresden as captain into the second division season.
Question: Mr Mai, you are the head of defense at Dynamo and you come from Dresden. After only one year, the club returns to the 2nd division. How big is the euphoria in the city?
Sebastian Mai: The euphoria is extremely high. Everyone is excited that the stadiums will be reopened. For the fans, the stadium, beer and bratwurst are something different than dynamo on television. I am often asked by many when they can come to us again. In Dresden at least every second car drives through the city with a dynamo sticker. It’s pure passion.
Question: Manager Ralf Becker says the season’s goal is 1st to 15th place. Can Dynamo squint for more than 15th place?
