Reported detikSport From various sources, Manchester United has often been rumored to be bringing in Raphael Varane. Not just in the last two seasons, but since 10 years ago!

Apparently, MU’s most successful former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, had a crush on Varane in 2011. Sir Alex had seen the potential of Varane, who at that time was still playing for the French team, Lens.

“In 2011, I got on the train from Euston to Lille to sign a young French defender, Raphael Varane. (Manchester United CEO) David Gill has already tried to sign a contract with Lens, Varane’s club,” Sir Alex wrote in his autobiography.

Raphael Varane at that time was 17 years old. Of course, an offer from a Sir Alex Ferguson made him tempted.

Unfortunately, love is one sided. Varane actually prefers Real Madrid’s proposal!

The reason was that at that time, Los Blancos had just appointed Zinedine Zidane as the club’s sporting director. Zidane also saw great potential from Varane.

Varane, who is also a native of France, really looks up to Zizou. So when Zidane and Madrid came, sorry Sir Alex, Varane preferred Madrid.

“Somehow Real Madrid finally got Varane. I’m not sure, their coach, Jose Mourinho has seen Varane before,” wrote Sir Alez.

Raphael Varane’s decision to move to Real Madrid is the right one. With Madrid, Varane transformed into a formidable central defender.

10 years in the white and white uniform, Raphael Varane won 18 trophies. Including, three times the Spanish League champions and four times the Champions League champions.

Now, Sir Alex Ferguson can heave a sigh of relief. Finally, Varane joined Manchester United and Sir Alex’s dream came true.
