The Belgian Wout van Aert obtained in the stage with double ascent to Mont Ventoux his fourth individual victory in the Tour de France, after culminating a long getaway while the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar he kept the yellow jersey, but showed, for the first time, his human face. The cyclist of the Jumbo was the strongest of the escapees and made the difference on the second climb to the ‘Giant of Provence’, to enter alone at the arrival of Malaucène, in the descent. Van Aert, who is competing in his third Tour, won one stage in 2019 and two last year, all of them in the sprint, in addition to being part of the Jumbo that won a team time trial in 2019. In Malaucène he achieved his first triumph in a high mountain stage.

Among the favorites, the Australian Ben O’Connor he suffered a death and lost the second position, which is now occupied by the Colombian Rigoberto Uran, which entered along with the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz, Pogacar and the Danish Jonas Vingegaard, who attacked on the last climb and managed to unseat the Slovenian. It was the first sign of weakness that gave the defender of the title in which we take de Tour, without consequences, because in the descent he managed to catch the young Dane, as did Uranus and Carapaz. The Spanish Enric Mas he was also unable to keep up and lost two places overall: he is now eighth at 7:11 of the leader and 1:38 of the podium.
