Penguins sign new deal with Bluger The news

Pittsburgh (USA), July 15, LETA. The Pittsburgh “Penguins” team of the National Hockey League (NHL) has signed a new agreement with the Latvian striker Teodors Blugers, the club informs.

Both parties have entered into a two-year one-way agreement until the end of the 2022/2023 season. Bluger will receive an average of $ 2.2 million per season, which is about three times more than in the previous contract.

“Theodore has proven to be a versatile center-forward who can play both offensive and defensive. He also makes a big contribution to the game in the minority. He is a valuable player to our team,” says team manager Ron Hextol, 26-year-old Bluger.

Last season, Blugers scored seven goals in 43 games, returned 15 assists and scored a positive efficiency of +10. 22 points a season is his repeated career record, but +10 utility, 15 assists and an average of 0.51 points per match are new career records.

He scored three goals in the minority, which was the best result in the Penguins. In the minority, Blugers spent an average of two minutes and nine seconds on the ice, which was the longest playing time among the Pittsburg team’s attackers.

Blugers has played in the NHL in two and a half seasons in 140 games, scoring 22 goals, scoring 32 assists, scoring four goals in the minority, scoring four winning goals and accumulating a positive +19. In the Stanley Cup, he has one exact throw in 11 duels.

Prior to his debut in the NHL, he represented the Welshbar / Screnton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL). AHL Blugers has participated in 179 matches, scoring 49 goals and making 66 assists. Prior to his professional career, he played for four seasons on the Mavericks team at the University of Minnesota, participating in the National College Sports Association (NCAA) Championship.

In 2012, the Penguins team selected Blugers in the second round of the NHL draft with a high number of 52.

Blugers has represented the Latvian national team in three world championships as well as in five youth championships.

The Penguins stopped last season in the first round of the Stanley Cup.
