Chosen to live the adventure of the Olympic Games with the American selection, Kevin Love preferred to retire at the last moment. Now focused on his future in the NBA, the interior of the Cavaliers has delivered a big clue about his intentions.

Sacred in 2012 alongside LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, James Harden or Kobe Bryant, he will not sign the double. Selected to everyone’s surprise by Gregg Popovich to participate in the Tokyo Olympics in a few days, Kevin Love has decided to retire from the Team USA roster. The preparation for the tournament, in which he fully participated, did not allow him to be reassured about his physical condition.

From then on, it is from his sofa that he will follow the exploits of Kevin Durant and company on Japanese soil. For his part, the big man will be able to rebuild his health for the next NBA season. On the other hand, no one knows under what colors he will compete for it at the moment. Under contract for another two years, it appears to be one of the hottest and most watched cases of the summer.

Despite an increasingly less flamboyant production since his arrival at the Cavaliers, Love remains a valued profile within the league. Several teams with big ambitions make them a prime target during the offseason.. Its leaders are however not impatient to transfer it according to rumors. But what does the main interested party think? He recently spoke on the subject, in comments reported by Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com

I think I understand that being option number 1, playing 35 minutes and taking 20 shots per game is in my rearview mirror. But I don’t try to put a ceiling or limit on my performance at all. As long as I’m feeling good, I know I’m going to play well. But I believe that if I am asked to take a turn in my career to evolve in a winning team, I am more than ready to do so.

The subtext is therefore clearly identifiable, and shows that the five-time All-Star would not be against the prospect of joining a new environment. The loss of responsibility that this would entail does not seem to disturb him more than that. In other words, his prestigious courtiers in the market will have no trouble convincing him to integrate into their workforce as a role player.

It remains to be determined what will be the necessary consideration to convince the Cavs front office to give it up. In view of the project set up in Ohio, a few assets for the future should be enough to win the day. This, if the management does not find an agreement with its player around a buyout, which would leave the door open to all the possibilities concerning its next point of fall.

Clearly, Kevin Love is therefore in favor of arriving in a top-team. The message has passed; rumors are now likely to multiply.
