nearly 900 participants in team sports in Tipasa

ALGIERS – Nearly 900 participants including 300 girls take part from July 13 to 19 in Tipasa in the national festival of schools devoted to sport, we learned on Sunday from the Algerian Federation of School Sport (FASS).

The competitions played in mini format in four sports disciplines (football, basketball, handball and volleyball), bring together representatives from nine regions (Algiers, Blida, Tissemsilt, Sidi Bel-Abbès, Saïda, Sétif, Constantine, Annaba and Laghouat) as well as those from the Great South and the organizing wilaya.

The FASS had previously organized the national festival of schools devoted to sport in Jijel from July 4 to 10. The meeting was devoted to individual sports events: Kids athletics, table tennis, karate-do, judo and chess.

These sporting events are organized as part of the commemoration of the 59th anniversary of Independence and Youth.

Other young athletes had taken part, for their part, in the national school and university sports games from July 5 to 10 in Algiers, Tipasa, Boumerdès and Blida.

These national games brought together some 1,250 male athletes and 900 female athletes representing 44 wilaya school sports leagues. They competed in 11 disciplines: athletics, judo, karate-do, taekwondo, table tennis, wrestling, chess, football, handball, basketball and volleyball.

In addition to their objective linked to the commemoration of a historic date (5-July 1962), these sports events offer the opportunity for Algerian sports federations to detect young sports talents.
