In the presence of the president of the National Olympic Committee of Côte d’Ivoire (Cno-Civ), General Lassana Palenfo, the Ivorian Sport boss encouraged the 10 athletes of Athletics, Judo, Taekwondo and Rowing before their departure. « The President of the Republic has instructed me to tell you that you are carriers of values. Promote the spirit of brotherhood advocated by sport. Côte d’Ivoire needs you to give hope to the new generation. Ensure that the honor of Côte d’Ivoire is preserved», did he declare.
He reaffirmed the objective of the State of Côte d’Ivoire for these Olympic Games. «I gave the assurance that with your performances and your qualities, the objective of 3 medals to obtain will be reached. Advance with confidence and you will succeed… To boost your enthusiasm, in addition to the qualification bonuses, there is also that of participation and objective which are planned», he urged. Minister Danho reassured the athletes that there will be no problem with the participation and target bonuses.
Paulin Danho paid a vibrant tribute to General Palenfo who gave the athletes their participation kits consisting of sportswear, shirts, the national flag, mufflers etc. The president of the Cno-Civ also handed over the accreditation of the Ivorian delegation and donated a loincloth and other gadgets to Minister Danho. On behalf of the qualified athletes, N’Dri Kouadio Franck Aimé de l’Aviron thanked Minister Paulin Claude Danho for his commitment and support to them. He took the bet that the athletes will do everything humanly possible to bring back medals to Abidjan.
