Mexican Softball team will start its participation in Tokyo 2020 before the inauguration

Since the 1996 Olympics that no sport other than soccer was seen on the first day of activities, and since 2008 the softball teams did not tread the competition, so Tokyo 2020 will be truly historic.

Softball games will kick off the Olympics in Tokyo 2020, postponed to 2021 for health and safety issues, as a global pandemic such as the Coronavirus put the whole world in check.

Through the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee The new Olympic softball calendar was revealed, highlighting that they will be the first competition in play within its programming.

It will be on July 21, 2021 when the hosts and last gold medals (2008), Japan, will face the representative of Australia in the Fukushima Azuma Baseball Stadium sharp nine o’clock in the morning from Tokyo.

The next game will be between the Italian team, against the three-time Olympic champions of the United States, who will seek to repeat the feat of Atlanta 1996; Sidney 2000 and Athens 2004.

A third game in the same stadium will be the one starring Mexico, undefeated by winning andl WBSC Americas Qualifier in Surrey, against their counterparts in Canada. This game will have a schedule of 15:00 local time, but you can witness it in the central time of Mexico at 1:00 AM.

The next day, Mexico will face Japan o’clock at 12:00 hours local, or 10:00 PM central in the Mexican Republic; while their third game will be against the United States, but the July 24 at Yokohama Baseball Stadium.

The final rounds will take place in the same stadium, but cagainst Italy on July 25, 2021 at 8:00 AM in Mexico; and for the last match of the qualifying round we will have the nationals against Australia at the same time.

The best two teams classified at the end of the first round will be able to access the final game to fight for the gold medal. The third and fourth places must face each other for bronze.

These matches would take place on July 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. local time; but 11:00 PM and 8:00 AM in central Mexico time respectively.

The Mexican team, since last February, has had a strong preparation work in the United States On the way to Tokyo 2020: in February he held a concentration in Dallas, in March he played some games against his American counterpart and then had games against university teams from Oklahoma.

However, prior to his trip to the Olympic Games, The team held the Mexico Cup under the direction of the National Sports Commission (Conade), in which they said goodbye with a series of games.

National teams were involved in this tournament. Mexico youth sub 10, as well as the youth sub 17, in addition to the Florida Gulf Coast, the National Team of Guatemala, Peru, Chile and finally, the Mexico City.

This took place from June 8 to 13, 2021 in the Olmec League and the Mayan League of Mexico City, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., where there were also Clinics, Interactive Fair and Home Run Derby.

The team is integrated by 15 players and five technicians who lead the national team; among which stands out Stefania Aradillas, awarded with the National Sports Award 2020 by obtaining the historic place for Women’s Softball.
