Coaches and team members looked relaxed and greeted reporters who took the plane. Zhao Shuai, flag bearer of the Chinese delegation, said the trip went very well and the health of the members of the delegation was very good. “It is a great honor to become the standard bearer, and it is also a driving force for greater national glory.”

On May 17, officials of the Chinese delegation announced the two flag bearers who will march at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics: Zhao Shuai, of the men’s taekwondo team, and Zhu Ting, of the female volleyball team. As Olympic champion at the Rio Olympics, Zhao Shuai is determined to defend his title.

On the same day, Chinese Olympic delegation officials Gao Zhidan, Li Yingchuan and Liu Guoyong also arrived in Tokyo.

Coincidentally, the observation delegation from the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Winter Games also arrived at the airport that day. Wang Jun, head of the delegation, said they would join the other members of the observation delegation (consisting of 11 people) within 10 days to review the organization and management of the Olympic Games operations.
