Maubeuge: end of renovations at Léo Lagrange

The Léo Lagrange sports complex welcomes many disciplines and even more practitioners throughout the year and is deeply rooted in the sporting history of the city and especially of the districts of Douzies and Sous-le-Bois. aikido, judo, pétanque, athletics, football, bear, tennis… the menu is as large as the facilities.

But as with everything, the years of use have little by little marked the place and in particular the tennis courts which required a small update as well as a small modernization of the places in a desire of the City of improve safety and practice for players.

An expected renewal

In 2016, the Mozin and Bonduelle theaters had seen their courts redone, it was at the beginning of 2021 that Léo Lagrange’s turn came with a start of work in March at a cost of € 252,577 which covered the repair for 4 short, two in resin and two in porous concrete, as well as the installation of new lighting and new barriers.

Goodbye to irregularities and deformations due to the ground and to age and hello to the new perfectly flat coverings and to the redone markings for playing comfort and even for those who like to serve at night.

As the front line for this new chapter of Maubeugeois sport, the inauguration took place this Saturday, July 3 in the morning in the presence of Arnaud Decagny, Mayor of the city, Emmanuel Lococciolo, deputy for sports and sports buildings, elected officials and members of USM tennis, without of course forgetting Jean-Pierre Lecoq, actor and emblematic figure of tennis and handi-sport. Needless to say, barely inaugurated, the courses were invested and the balls did not take long before rebounding.
