Luke List impresses at John Deere Classic

American Luke List turned many heads during the second round of the John Deere Classic on Friday in Illinois, slashing eight par 71 strokes to take first place.

The 36-year-old has flawlessly scored eight birdies and has a cumulative score of 129 (-13). He will start the rounds of the weekend with a slim priority with a shot over Colombian Sebastian Munoz, who shared the lead after 18 holes. The latter had four birdies on the second day of activity.

A contingent of seven golfers will also ensure the pursuit in the third round, them who are two strokes behind List.

On the Canadiens’ side, Nick Taylor is the best placed, him who shares the 10e position with the American Patrick Rodgers. Taylor has a chance to fight for the win, with him three shots behind the leader.

Roger Sloan made an impressive jump of 57 places in the standings, thanks to a round of 64 (-7). He is tied in 18e place, at -8.

David Hearn also pulled off a tour de force, climbing 51 positions, using a 65 (-6) day. He shares the 24e rang.

The only other representative of the maple leaf, Michael Gligic, will not be in the rounds of the weekend, he who fell victim to the ax, established at 138 (-4). Gligic only took one shot off par during the first 36 flags.

Hataoka less convincing, but still in the lead

In the aftermath of an impressive round in which she subtracted 10 punches from the par, Japan’s Nasa Hataoka was able to preserve her first place at the Classic Marathon, in Sylvania, Ohio, thanks to a second card of 69 (-2).

The 22-year-old, however, saw his lead from four strikes reduced to two. She spent a second day on a roller coaster punctuated by six birdies and four bogeys. Among other things, she cut off a normal shot four times in a row, from the 14e to 17e pennant.

Her closest pursuer, American Mina Harigae, handed in a second 66 (-5) card in as many rounds. She alone occupies the second place. A duo of American golfers will also ensure the pursuit during the rounds of the weekend, who are three strokes behind the leader.

Canada’s Brooke M. Henderson chopped a 71-par shot for the second straight. She settled in a tie at 48e echelon, 10 strikes from the top of the classification.

The two other representatives of the maple leaf, Alena Sharp and Jaclyn Lee, were victims of the ax, established at 142 strikes, or the normal. The first has 145 (+3) moves to its cumulative, while the second has 150 (+8).
