José Suárez and Martín Pérez face each other

Angels and Boston Red Sox begin today an interesting series in Los Angeles and Venezuelans José Suárez and Martín Pérez will be in charge of getting on the mound, in what will be the 103rd duel between Creole pitchers in the MLB, and third of this season, since that first meeting between Juan Carlos Pulido (Minnesota) and Wilson Álvarez (White Sox), on June 12, 1994.

In the first instance, José Suárez, will debut as a starter this season, after fulfilling his duties as a reliever for the Angels.

The left-hander earned the opportunity to open a match, after a solid long relief against the New York Yankees of 5 1/3 innings with just one run allowed, on Monday, June 28.

Against the red-legged ones, he has a 7.20 ERA with four earned runs in five innings.

Regarding his season record, Suarez is (3-1) with 26 strikeouts and a terrific 1.98 ERA.

For his part, Martín Pérez will be in charge of defending the leaders of the Eastern Division of the American League in what will be his seventeenth start of the season.

The sinister is 6-4 with a 4.04 ERA in 75 2/3 innings. Likewise, it will be his 20th match against the Californians and in that journey he has a mark of 6-5 and 4.02 of PCL.
