The passion for judo runs through his veins since he met him in 2008, he was 14 years old and he was still in school. José Ramos will be in charge of representing Guatemala in the Olympics in judo, a discipline that for him is much more than a sport, it is his way of life.

When he started practicing judo, he adhered to strict training, which after great sacrifices gave its first fruits: being part of the national team, after doing well in a qualifier in 2012. At the age of 21, he reached the Olympics. of Rio 2016.

He has managed to be a national champion for three consecutive years in three different categories: in 55, 60 and 66 kg. He competed in six Grand Slam, six continental championships, one Grand Prix and 12 editions of the continental open.

Before him, four were Guatemalans who signed Olympic participations in judo: Rodolfo Cano and Juan González in Atlanta 1996, Jorge Quintanal in Sydney 2000 and Darrel Castillo in London 2012.
