Jonas wins sixth place in the Italian “Grand Prix” – Motorsport – Auto

Jonas was seventh in the first race and fourth in the second and won sixth with 32 points. In the sum of two races, the Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings won with 40 points, but his compatriot Glen Koldenhofs and the Italian Antonio Cairoli, who took the third place, also won the same number of points.

In the second race, Jonas got off to a good start, which allowed him to take sixth place. In the next two laps, Jonas was already approached by the winner of the first race, Roman Febvrs. At one point, he was less than a second behind Jonah, but after a few laps he had moved away to 2-3 seconds.

In the seventh lap, Jonas was already behind the Swiss Jeremy Severer, who was soon overtaken by Guyers. The Frenchman Jorge Prado, in fifth place in the tenth lap, made a mistake that allowed Jonas to almost completely destroy the competitor’s previously accumulated three-and-a-half second lead. The Spanish representative maintained his position, but Jonas had to defend himself against Gayser, who in 13 lap could not keep up with the pace set by him, made a mistake and moved away from Jonas.

In lap 14, Jonas finally managed to overtake former teammate Prado, which allowed him to climb to fifth place, but in the last lap he overtook British Henry Jacob in front and won fourth place.

In the first race, Jonas was eighth after the start, climbed to sixth place in the sixth lap, but in the last hundred meters of the race, he allowed himself to overtake the Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings, taking the seventh place.

In the first stage of the season in Russia, Jonas was third in the second race and took the eighth place in the sum, but the British “Grand Prix” Latvian athlete took the sixth place.

The next stage of the MXGP is scheduled for July 18 in the Netherlands.

After three stages in the world championship, the leader with 124 points is Tim Gayser, the second place with 118 points is occupied by Jeffrey Herlings, and the third with 107 points is Roman Febvrs. Jonas has scored 82 points, which gives him eighth place.

Meanwhile, in the 125 cubic centimeter class of the European Championship, Kārlis Alberts Reišulis took 13th place in the first race on Saturday, but was in the second or 40th position in the second. In the sum of two races, Rešulis received eight points and 19th place.

In the overall rating of the championship, Reišulis takes the 24th place with eight earned points.

Last year, Slovenian motorcyclist Tim Gayser was crowned MXGP champion for the third time, but Jonas, who suffered a serious injury in the summer, was ranked 31st.

There are 19 stages in the MXGP class this season. The end of the season is planned for December 5 in Indonesia, but the seventh stage is scheduled for August 8 on the Latvian track in Ķegums.
