JA News – Fantasy baseball waiver thread (week 19) – Journal d’Afrique

The MLB trade deadline has passed and now we can sift through the changes to the roster. The majority of traded players are already registered, but some value may remain on the waiver thread. Some of the names below will include players with an opportunity that wasn’t there (or not as obvious) before the deadline.

The Cubs clearance sale was hard to watch, but it opens up opportunities for players like Bote. The Cub leadership has always thought of him and he is healthy for the first time in months. Bote will get a lot of hitters and has enough power to be relevant to the fantasy.

The Braves traded for a whole new outfield and I think Duvall has the opportunity to play every day. He has a great arm and I have continued to add his power to fantasy teams. They have a higher staff, so check their availability.

I haven’t seen Straw be moved, but going to Cleveland is also a good situation for him to get regular hitters. I don’t expect a production bump but rather a plateau depending on playing time. Its available wire speed remains a mystery.

The White Sox team co-leaders for the circuits are Jose Abreu and… Cesar Hernandez. His power will play at home and as a hitter.

Wisdom has legitimate power, and like so many Cubs infielders on the team, there are plenty of hitters.

The addition of Trea Turner in the Max Scherzer deal and Starlin Castro’s legal issues open up an opportunity for Kieboom on the left side of the infield. His last stint with the big club was not promising; Kieboom is 1 to 11 with a K / BB ratio of 4: 1.

At 30, Ortega is not a player on the rise beyond next month. He was excellent in July with the playing time he was given. The outfielder is hitting .354 with five runs, three RBIs and a stolen base in 53 home plate appearances this month.

Teams in need haven’t bit the 31-year-old, and that’s okay. He seems to enjoy his role in Pittsburgh and has the best career .402 kicking percentage so far this season.

The addition of Harrison hurts Jed Lowrie and Tony Kemp, but until their roles are secured, it’s hard to get excited about either of this trio. The reason for targeting Harrison is to drop assets to add the former All-Star.

The addition of Kyle Schwarber complicates the Red Sox’s outfield once Schwarber is healthy. Renfroe will continue to play a lot until then.

Toro is the only player in MLB history to have a home run for and against the same two teams in MLB history. He also gets playing time on second base with Kyle Seager in town. Toro appears to be the heir to the Hot Corner throne.

Gomes’ move to Oakland hurts the fantastic worth of Sean Murphy and himself. Both have power, but it seems to be heading towards a fight for playtime.

He is a few weeks away from playing due to abdominal strain, which affects his chances of playing once he is available. Rosario’s biggest advantage is that he hits with his left hand.
