Hadley et Muñoz leaders au John Deere Classic

With a card without any misstep, Chesson Hadley recorded a beautiful score of 63 (-8), without the slightest bogey. Consistent throughout the first day, he started with two pars and then two birdies at holes 3 and 4. He finished the first half of the course at -4 with two more birdies at 7 and 8.

The 30-year-old attacked the second half of play in the best possible way with a birdie on hole 10. He made three more on 14, 17 and 18. The native of North Carolina is to conquer his first title on the PGA Tour. He will depart at 9:02 a.m. local time (4:02 p.m.) to begin the second lap of the John Deere Classic.

A two-step entry for Muñoz

Sebastián Muñoz also impressed, finishing first on Day 1 tied with Chesson Hadley. His first part of the game was not brilliant with in particular a bogey on the number 8 hole. He nevertheless managed three birdies on the 2, 4 and 6. He finished the first 9 holes at -2. The second half of the race was much more enjoyable for the Colombian. From the hole number 11, he made a birdie and then chained with two pars.

On the last five holes, he only made birdies allowing him to finally return a card to 63 (-8). The first round of the 2021 John Deere Classic was not easy for him, however, as South Korea’s Kim Si-woo, with whom he played, withdrew from the tournament on the 9th hole, suffering from back pain. Sebastián Muñoz will start the second day at 7.45am local time (2.45pm).
