Greece: At 37, Ioannis Bourousis retires

Greek basketball veteran pivot Ioannis Bourousis, 2.15m, 37, has announced his retirement, two weeks after fellow national team members Vassilis Spanoulis and Nikos Zisis.

“Karditsa’s tall, slim teenager has been through a lot more than he had dreamed of on his journey with the Orange Goddess. He has known pleasures, won championships, received recognition from the elite of sport in Europe and also experienced disappointments, because they are part of life ”, he said on his Instagram account.

During his 21-year long career, Bourousis won gold (2005) and bronze (2009) medals at the European Championships, a Euroleague (2015) with Real Madrid. He also played in several prestigious clubs, Barcelona, ​​Milan, Vitoria, and even the Panathinaikos.
