The young German winger Maximilian Begue should slowly be introduced to the basketball Bundesliga.
GIESSEN – The young German winger Maximilian Begue is currently with the German U20 national team to prepare for the “U20 Men European Challenger”. During this time, the Gießen 46ers insisted on signing the 20-year-old talent for two seasons. Born in Darmstadt, he switched from league rival Fraport Skyliners to Lahn and received a double license from Central Hesse to play for the rackelos in both the BBL and the 2nd basketball league ProB. With the Hessian youngster, there are currently ten players in the squad of 46ers head coach Pete Strobl for the upcoming season.
46ers coach Pete Strobl said of the commitment: “It takes a lot of work and time to develop players properly and we are happy to have Maximilian Begue in our club. This is a clear sign that we are developing and training from talented players and give young Germans the chance to show their talent. It also shows that agents and players recognize the opportunities that we offer them here in Giessen – such as individual “skill training” or the opportunity to learn from dedicated coaches . ”
Maximilian Begue himself is excited about the new task: “I am happy to be able to be under contract with the 46ers and to always leave a positive impact in both the ProB and the BBL. The discussions with those responsible were very good and have been good convinced me. As a player, I would like to expand my profile to include my positions and I am ready to take the next steps as a full professional. ”
Maximilian Begue last scored twelve points in the international match test against Croatia and thus made a good impression before the start of the FIBA U20 European Challenger in Tbilisi. The youngster had previously played for the U16 and U18 national teams and took part in the 2019 European Championship, where the native of Hesse recorded 7.6 PpS, 3.4 RpS and 2.3 ApS.
