Former Madrid player Novica Velickovic ends his career – Basketball

Belgrade, Jul 8 (EFE) .- The captain of Partizan, former Madrid player Novica Velickovic, has put an end to his playing career, the Belgrade club reported today in which the legendary power forward began his professional career.

A leading player, “unique” and “fighter without equal”, has said goodbye, says the Partizan statement, entitled “The day the captain retires.”

“Wherever he has played, his impact on the game and on the players has not been measured only in numbers. He will be remembered for his heart and determination to emerge victorious from each battle,” the note added.

After starting his career in 2001 in the same team where he ended it, 34-year-old Velickovic played for Real Madrid (2009-2012), Serbian Mega Vizura, German Brose Bamberg and Turkish Trabzonspor ..

He was vice-champion of Europe with the Serbian national team in 2009.

Among his trophies he has three ABA regional league titles, five Serbian champions and two in the National Cup with Partizan, as well as the Copa del Rey in 2012 with Real Madrid.
