Football Manager will have women’s football in the near future

Sports Interactive’s football management game, Football Manager, announced last Thursday (22) that it will include women’s football as one of the options for players to manage among the clubs available in the game. The news will come sometime in the future.

In a blog post of Football Manager, the game’s director and executive producer Miles Jacobson spoke about how fans for years have asked for a female version of the team manager. And that, contrary to what many thought, the women’s teams will not come in a separate game, but as part of the upcoming versions of Football Manager. However, there is no forecast when the new functionality will be implemented.

According to Jacobson’s announcement, the development team had to start the base date of players from scratch and also do the motion capture work. He also highlighted that this move will be very costly for the studio and that the short-term financial return would be minimal, but that it was the right thing to do. The announcement also highlighted that Tina Keech will be the head of research for women’s football.

Football Manager 2021 is available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and mobile devices.
