Extraterrien #97 Florent Pietrus (basketball)

We no longer present Florent Pietrus, immense basketball player who made the heyday of the France team with the Parker / Diaw generation that we recognize by his voice of big brother.

He comes from a basketball family. We especially remember his brother Mickaël, one year younger than him, but there is also their older brother Rony, less known but who was a model for them.

Very young retiree, Flo has had a multitude of successes throughout his career, whether in a club where he played between France and Spain and especially in the France team with various medals and the Grail in 2013 with the medal. gold won at the European Championships. It should also be noted that in 2016 he received the Robert Busnel medal, the highest distinction of the FFBB.

In 2014 when he was 33 years old, Florent felt the need to tell about his journey, marked by the death of his mother when he was 10 years old and the absence of a father.

A book that he wanted to write for his children, so that they could get to know their father a little better and know the efforts and sacrifices he had to make to reach what he is today. A book that he also wanted to act as therapy for him.

A book and a story both poignant and touching which retraces the difficult moments through which he also had to go through as also this father whom he hardly knew, geographically close but very distant emotionally. But also his childhood, raised by his grandmother in a modest environment and his difficult adaptation in metropolitan France at 15 years old.

Florent Pietrus likes to point out, nothing has been easy for him in basketball and in life. And it is with this worker mindset that he enjoys sharing his experience and values with the younger generations.

Good episode!
