England coach Gareth Southgate takes responsibility…

As the Italians celebrated their second European Championship, Gareth Southgate and his England squad were left mourning. In a brief response, Southgate said he is proud of what his players have achieved in the tournament, but at the same time he couldn’t avoid the failed penalty shootout. “However, we were very well prepared,” he told the BBC.

Afterwards, of course, disappointment prevailed with England coach Gareth Southgate. “We are extremely disappointed. I told the players that we all lose together, just as we win together. No one is left alone now. We have worked incredibly hard to achieve this and have created fantastic memories together.”

The national coach took responsibility for the disappointing penalty series. “We were very well prepared for penalties. I decided which players came first on the list and so take it all on me.”

Kane bites disappointment: “It hurts a lot”

Harry Kane couldn’t hide his disappointment after the lost final of the European Football Championship against Italy. “Losing is a terrible feeling,” said the Tottenham goalkeeper. “It was a fantastic tournament for us. We have to keep our heads up. But of course it hurts, it hurts a lot and anyone can miss a penalty. We win together and we lose together and we are going to grow out of this.”

“We are very proud of what we have achieved as a group. We have improved since Russia and we will continue to do so.”
