Just ask Italy’s goalkeeper giant Gianluigi Donnarumma (22), who among other things parried the decisive penalty against England-Bubi Bukayo Saka (19).

Right off the track! Therefore, the Italy goalkeeper did not cheer
After his final parade, Donnarumma left his six-meter space with tunnel vision and remained focused. True to the Kahn principle, “Go on, go on!” No sign of jubilation. But suddenly the party wave of his celebrating teammates spills over him from behind.
The goalkeeper hero confesses to the “Gazzetta dello Sport” his party faux pas: “I didn’t cheer immediately because I didn’t realize it.”
And further: “I looked at the referee to see if everything was okay. Then I saw my team-mates come up to me and understood nothing at all. “
The dropout when counting must have happened to Donnarumma beforehand.
When England goalkeeper Pickford saved Jorginho’s penalty, which would have meant Italy’s triumph, Donnarumma thought England would be the winner. The goalkeeper: “I was already down because I thought we lost.”
A little later, however, Donnarumma could no longer notice this shock. After its parade against Saka, Italy was again European champion after 53 years.
And the second goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu (34), who was only allowed to play for one minute at this EM, was perhaps the all-important man in the background. As captain Giorgio Chiellini (36) and Alessandro Florenzi (30) revealed, Sirigu provided extra motivation.
