Drama for Curaçao: streak through Gold Cup after corona infections | Football

The Concacaf, the football association of North and Central America, reports in a statement on the website that several positive corona tests have been established in the Curaçao team. “All persons went into isolation immediately. While several other players tested negative, the rules also require some to be in isolation. As a result, the Concacaf and the Curaçao Football Association have decided in good consultation that Curaçao will not participate in the tournament.”

Curaçao would open the tournament on Saturday with a game against El Salvador in the American Frisco. Kluivert was no longer able to draw up a representative team because many negatively tested players also had to be quarantined.

Kluivert became interim national coach of Curaçao in May after Guus Hiddink was infected with the corona virus. Guatemala will replace Curaçao in the Gold Cup.
