Difficult to compete in MotoGP 2021, Mir Suggests Suzuki to follow in the footsteps of other manufacturers: Okezone Sports

SHAFTS – The Suzuki Ecstar team looks so difficult to compete in MotoGP 2021. Since the inaugural race, their drivers have not managed to reach the championship podium until entering the 10th race of the season.

Their best achievement was through Joan Mir who won three third podiums in the series Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands. This result is clearly good news for Suzuki, especially for Mir as the defending champion.

In order to return to being competitive, the Spaniard also gave advice to his team to follow in the footsteps of other teams’ manufacturers. Especially on the devices in their motors.

One of them, Mir asked Suzuki to first provide a holeshot device on the GSX-RR motorcycle this season. Suzuki itself is the only manufacturer that does not have this device, as rivals have been using it since the start of the season.

“First, we have to work on the device (holeshot), because there are many tracks where this device makes a big difference. This is the first thing we have to do, then we will work on other details that can make a difference as well,” said Joan Mir reported from the Crash page, Thursday (8/7/2021).

“With the team, I also have to understand what we need to be stronger in qualifying, in order to have a good lap time,” he continued.

“The rhythm of racing that I can always do is never far from my record time in qualifying, so I have to appear as fierce as possible,” said Mir again.

Mir himself performed quite well when he performed in the ninth series of MotoGP 2021. Teammate Alex Rins made a surprising appearance by winning the third podium at the Assen Circuit, the Netherlands, Sunday 27 June 2021 evening WIB.

This achievement is quite extraordinary considering Mir who started the race from 10th position. For that, Mir also feels that the achievement in the 2021 Dutch MotoGP is very important for his team to continue to be motivated to perform better this season.

“This podium is important for me and Suzuki! It’s extra energy to be better in the second half of the season. This bike package may not be enough to win the title, so we have to work hard to improve ourselves, always trying to find progress,” he concluded.
