CSU boss urges rapid tax cuts: Söder reminds Laschet of the common election program – politics

CSU boss Markus Söder insists on quick tax cuts after the federal election and thus distances himself from the Union Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet (CDU). “Tax cuts are at the heart of our tax policy,” said Söder of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.

“This is clearly reflected in the joint election program,” he added. “Tax relief is the basic philosophy of the Union – that is the difference to the political left: Greens want to increase taxes, we want to reduce them.”

CDU boss and candidate for chancellor Armin Laschet said on Sunday in the ARD “summer interview” that he “at the moment” does not see any scope for tax breaks, “we don’t have the money for that.”

Söder opposed this in the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”: “After the election, an opening financial statement and then priorities are set. For the CSU, relieving the burden on small and medium-sized businesses and crafts is a top priority. “

The CSU regional group in the Bundestag will meet on Wednesday for a two-day summer retreat in the Seeon Abbey in Upper Bavaria. In a position paper, which is to be decided in Seeon and which will then also flow into the CSU election program, the party demands, among other things, a doubling of the employee savings allowance and relief for single parents.

On Wednesday, Söder and state group leader Alexander Dobrindt will give keynote speeches there. Chancellor candidate Laschet is expected at the exam on Thursday. (dpa, AFP)
