Cameron Champ has the final say

American Cameron Champ upped his game at the most important moment, in Sunday’s final round of the 3M Open, to win the PGA event in Blaine, Minnesota.

Champ had a clear five birdies on his last day on the TPC Twin Cities course, to hand in a 66 (-5) card, his best of the tournament.

The 26-year-old completed the 72 holes with a two-stroke lead over his closest pursuers, a trio of golfers made up of South Africans Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, as well as Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas.

The 54-hole point guard, American Cameron Tringale, had an excruciating day, hitting the white object three times more than normal.

On the Canadiens’ side, Adam Hadwin is the one who completed the tournament with the highest ranking. The Saskatchewan native hit the ball 68 (-3) times in the final round. He took sixth place, tied with four other players, with a cumulative score of 273 (-11).

As for him, Roger Sloan lost 12 ranks after playing 72 (+1) moves. He ended the event tied for 16th.

Michael Gligic improved his fate somewhat by cutting off three normal strokes to grab 49th place. Finally, David Hearn finished in the 58th place.

Brooke M. Henderson had the best Canadian result as she finished the competition tied with three rivals for the 25th place in the standings. For her last lap, the 23-year-old Ontarian handed a 70 (-1) card. She managed an eagle and a birdie, but also committed two bugys. That brought his cumulative total to 278 (-6).

For her part, Canada’s Alena Sharp struggled a lot in the fourth round. She committed one double bug and five bugys. Limited to two birdies, the 40-year-old golfer played 76 (+5). She completes the major tournament tied for 70th place.
