Bubba Watson will not be at the British Open

Having been in contact with someone who contracted COVID-19 recently, Bubba Watson will not be able to compete in the British Open next weekend.

This is what the two-time Masters Tournament champion posted on social media on Sunday. Watson is vaccinated and tested negative for the disease before flying. However, not enough time has passed since that problematic contact for him to enter the UK, under the restrictions in that country.

“Like many of you, I can’t wait to watch the Open on television,” he said. Since I will be watching it from the comfort of my sofa, seeing golfers negotiating with a little rain and a lot of wind wouldn’t bother me! Best of luck to all participants. ”

Watson finished sixth in the Rocket Mortgage Classic last Sunday and has finished in the top 10 five times since the start of the season. His last victory dates back to the Travelers Championship, in June 2018.
