Bonucci and Chiellini, Never ‘Cooled’ at Euro 2020

Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini really became Italy’s strong wall at Euro 2020. In fact, both of them were never ‘cooked’ by their opponents!

Italy won Euro 2020. Italy was able to crush England’s resistance in the final on Monday (12/7) WIB. Gli Azzurri won on penalties 3-2, after drawing 1-1 in normal time.

Italy is indeed so strong in all lines. Even in the group stage, they have never been defeated.

One of the keys to Italy’s toughness is in the central defender post sector. His two centre-backs, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini, are in excellent form even though they are not young!

Leonardo Bonucci is already 34 years old. Meanwhile, Giorgio Chiellini is slightly older, 36 years.

Squawka noted, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini are a central defender duo who have never been ‘collapsed’ or have never been passed by an opponent’s dribble throughout Euro 2020.

Even in the Euro 2020 final, they both appeared fierce to reduce England’s front line. Chiellini won nine duels, seven times won the ball in the air, and three times cut the opponent’s pass.

Bonucci was able to succeed six times recoveries and made two tackles. Bonucci was able to score a goal to balance the position after successfully snatching a wild ball from the chaos in front of the England goal.

Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini have both reached 100 appearances for the Italian national team. The two also played together at Juventus which made chemistry between them is unquestionable.

“I know Bonucci more deeply than I know my wife,” Chiellini once said.
