Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese top swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien will participate for the third time in the Olympic Games to be held next month in Tokyo.

The athlete received an invitation from the International Swimming Federation (FINA) after meeting standard B in freestyle mode.

In that sense, Anh Vien will compete in the women’s 200 and 800 meter freestyle tournaments, in which she registered personal records of two minutes 75 seconds and eight minutes 48 seconds 65 hundredths, respectively.

Previously, Nguyen Huy Hoang was the first Vietnamese swimmer to win a ticket to the biggest sporting event. The athlete will compete in the men’s categories of 800 and 1,500 meters freestyle.

Vietnam hopes to send 20 athletes to the Tokyo Olympics. With the invitation of Anh Vien, the country has 16 participants in swimming, gymnastics, shooting, boxing, archery, badminton, rowing, weightlifting and taekwondo./.
